Step One:  Apply to KSU

Note: If you are an active service member, you should speak with your Educational Services Officer (ESO) or counselor within your Military Service Branch prior to enrolling at KSU.

Step Two: Apply for VA Educational Benefits

Find information on GI Bill® and other education benefit eligibility on the . Select each Chapter for more information on eligibility and the application. You can also get help deciding which educational benefits to use by calling the VA at 888-442-4551 (TTY: 711). They’re there Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. ET.

Step Three:  Submit Your Military Student Services Enrollment Reporting Form and Upload your VA Certificate of Eligibility

After you register for classes, please submit your This form is your written request to use your VA educational benefit.

Note: You must submit your Enrollment Reporting Form each semester after your register for classes and report any changes to your enrollment immediately to KSU’s Director of Military and Veteran Affairs and Registrar’s offices.

Once you have applied for benefits and received your Certificate of Eligibility, email it to the Office of Military and Veteran Affairs and Registrar.

Reservists/Guard Only:  A Notice of Basic Eligibility (NOBE) can be obtained from your unit.  Your NOBE allows KSU to certify your enrollment with the VA while you are waiting on your Certificate of Eligibility to be issued (usually 30 days).  Send document to the Office of Military and Veteran Affairs and Registrar.

Step Four:  Request Federal or State Tuition Assistance

Federal Tuition Assistance

Each branch of service has its own rules and procedures regarding Federal Tuition Assistance, but service members may be eligible for up to $4,000 in educational benefits per year. These funds are paid directly to the university to be applied towards tuition expenses.

  • Army or Activated Guard/Reserves (AGR)

Note:  Deadlines for requesting the KYNG Tuition Waiver are 1 October (Spring) and 1 April (Summer/Fall).

Step Five:  Submit your Federal Tuition Assistance Forms

Submit your approved FTA Forms to Office of Military and Veteran Affairs and Registrar.
