FRANKFORT, Ky. (Oct. 16, 2025) 鈥 麻豆直播 students have access to a range of research and career development opportunities through the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). These programs offer valuable experience for students pursuing studies and careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Dr. Jackson Gainer, Student Affairs Specialist at ORNL, will visit Kentucky State University on Wednesday, November 5, to meet with students, faculty, and administrators to discuss internships and fellowships that prepare participants for success in graduate study and high-demand technical careers.

鈥淭hese programs give our students direct experience applying scientific knowledge to real-world challenges,鈥 said Kabita Paudel, research associate in the College of Agriculture, Health, and Natural Resources. 鈥淲e are proud to connect Kentucky State students with national research institutions that build skills, expand networks, and strengthen the STEM workforce.鈥

Among the opportunities available is the NNSA MSIIP Program, which offers summer research placements for undergraduate and graduate students at U.S. Department of Energy facilities. Participants receive a weekly stipend of $750 to $1,150, along with housing, commuting, and virtual supplements. Internships for the 2026 cohort begin June 1, 2026, and applications are due October 26, 2025.

Additional opportunities include the GEM Fellowship, which combines an internship at ORNL with graduate funding support in science, engineering, and technology fields. The fellowship application deadline is November 14, 2025. Learn more at .
