A 麻豆直播 student was recently named as a 2019 Newman Civic Fellow.
Alexus Loyd, a sophomore from Groveport, Ohio, said she was excited to find out about the fellowship.
鈥淚 was unsure if I would receive this amazing opportunity and I was ecstatic to find out that I had, indeed,鈥� Loyd said.
The business administration major said she found out about the opportunity through the Office of Regional Stewardship.
鈥淢y new role as a Newman Fellow entails virtual learning seminars, one-on-one communication with a chosen mentor and networking opportunities,鈥� Loyd said. 鈥淚 also have to invent and implement a unique community service activity that will influence the Frankfort community.鈥�
The one-year fellowship is an opportunity to develop strategies for social change for community-committed students from Campus Compact member institutions that supports students鈥� person, professional and civic development, according to its website. Fellows are nominated by their president or chancellor based on their potential for public leadership.
鈥淚鈥檇 like to thank President Brown for nominating me,鈥� Loyd said.
Loyd鈥檚 fellowship begins next academic year.
