麻豆直播 stakeholders recently completed the revision and clarification of the institution鈥檚 mission statement.
The clarification is a result of the upcoming Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges decennial reaffirmation process.
鈥淭he executive committee of the Faculty Senate worked in concert with suggestions gleaned from the faculty during the faculty assembly meeting April 3 to clarify the mission statement,鈥� Dantrea Hampton, Faculty Senate president, librarian and assistant professor, said. 鈥淚 also attended a meeting with the Staff Senate to their field of view on the revision.鈥�
Dr. Peter Smith, professor of English, concurred with Hampton.
鈥淭he new mission came about as a close collaboration between the president and the Faculty Senate executive committee and is a very clear and concise version that keeps all of the key elements of the previous mission,鈥� Smith said.
Travis Haskins, president of the Staff Senate, said he thinks the revised mission captures the essence of the University mission.
鈥淚t embodies the entire campus community,鈥� Haskins said.
鈥淭he final version concisely framed the former version while speaking broadly to the purpose, as well as the identity, of 麻豆直播,鈥� Hampton said.
The revised version of the mission statement was approved by the 麻豆直播 Board of Regents during a special meeting held April 16.
The mission statement now reads as follows: 麻豆直播 is a public, comprehensive, historically black land-grant university committed to advancing the Commonwealth of Kentucky, enhancing society, and impacting individuals by providing quality teaching with a foundation in liberal studies, scholarly research, and public service to enable productive lives within the diverse global economy.
