Two Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ students were honored, and one incoming student recently received the Martin Luther King Jr. scholarship during the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration in Lexington.
Alaria Len Long is a Holmes High School senior from Covington with a 4.2 weighted GPA. She also holds the 800-meter dash record at her high school. Long plans to run track and major in nursing at Kentucky State. Her father is a Kentucky State alumnus.
Past recipients Victoria Poole and Lizbeth Perez were honored during the event. Poole is a nursing major, while Perez is a social work major. Both are from Lexington.
The keynote speaker for the event was American anti-racism activist and writer, Tim Wise. Wise is recognized by Utne Reader as one of 25 visionaries who are changing the world.
