Ā鶹ֱ²„ President M. Christopher Brown II joined hundreds as word spread of the death of esteemed educator and founder of Alcorn State Universityās Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite, Samuel L. Griffin, to remember his incredible legacy.
During his tenure as president at Alcorn, Brown, in recognition of Griffinās years of service, organized a farewell tour of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) and had the privilege of naming him Director Emeritus.
āBecause of his love for his studentsā well-being, many earned college degrees,ā Brown applauded Griffinās commitment to ensuring his students remained in the classroom, instilling in them a sense of pride and dedication to their academic journey. āGriffin produced numerous music educators, band directors and other successful professionals all while mesmerizing and captivating audiences. He was an innovator and garnered a national reputation for the Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite Marching Band. The bandās world-renowned showmanship made Alcorn State a household name.ā
