Growing up in Detroit, Nocomis Miner II didnāt always know how heād get himself to school in the morning or where heād find dinner at night. When he was still in high school, he even lost his brother Robert Cooper Smith to a gunman who mistook him for another man.
āGrowing up was hard,ā said Miner, now 25.
Education was his only āoutletā and he pushed himself to succeed.
