Judge Joan 鈥淭oni鈥� was appointed to Jefferson District Court on January 14, 2000, and was elected to complete an unexpired term in  November,  2000.  She was re-elected in 2002 and 2006, and served in Division 13 of Jefferson District Court for the 30^th Judicial District of Kentucky until her retirement from active status in 2009.  From 2009 until 2014 she served as a Senior Status Judge, presiding in District and Family Courts. She currently serves as an adjunct professor at Simmons College of Kentucky, and often works as a mediator with Just Solutions Mediation Services.

Judge Stringer is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association and the Women Lawyers鈥� Association and is a former commissioner for the Louisville/Metro Human Relations Commission, and the Louisville/Jefferson County Crime Commission.  She currently serves as commissioner for the Kentucky Commission for Human Rights. 

Judge Stringer was awarded the Spirit of Louisville/ TV 32 Bell Award in 1999, the Prevent Child Abuse of Kentucky 鈥淐hampion for Children鈥� Award in 1999, the Metro Louisville Office for Youth Development 鈥淒istinguished Service鈥� Award in 2003, and received the Today鈥檚 Woman Magazine 鈥淗.E.R. Community Angel鈥� Award in 2006.  In 2013 she was honored with the Louisville Bar Association鈥檚 Trailblazer Award , and has also been recognized as one of the Distinguished Alumni of Central High School, where she continues to volunteer with the Law and Government Magnet Program.

Judge Stringer graduated from the 麻豆直播 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1978 and received a Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree from Indiana University School of Law at Bloomington in 1982, and  is licensed to practice law in Kentucky and Indiana.
